Biolyz is a full-stack saliva-based biomarker testing company on a mission to accelerate access to biomarker analytics for all humans, globally. We offer a non-invasive testing solution whereby athletes and coaches simply use a cotton swab to collect saliva, which we analyze via mass spectrometry within 48 hours across 60+ biomarkers covering stress, recovery, metabolism, and inflammation. Our platform delivers real-time, hyper-personalized insights directly to coaches and athletes. Having tested over 2.5 million biomarkers across teams in the Champions League, Bundesliga, Premier League and Ligue 1 and other sports, Biolyz has powered the best athletes in their field.
This is a rare opportunity to own the entire engineering and technology function at a company already trusted by top European teams. As CTO/VP of Engineering, you will set infrastructure, architecture, and AI strategy from day one — not inherit someone else's stack. You will build the team, shape the product, and translate biological data that nobody else has at this scale into world-class client-facing outcomes.
You'll be both a strong individual contributor and an engineering leader. You'll ship code early, then grow the team around you and the company's needs. You'll work directly with the founder with full ownership and zero bureaucracy.
Own all engineering, infrastructure, and data platform decisions end to end — from architecture to deployment to security
Start as an IC, grow into management — ship code, then hire engineers, data scientists, and ML talent around you
Build and ship the production platform that turns raw biomarker data into client-facing insights coaches actually use on match day
Set and execute Biolyz's AI strategy — keep us at the frontier of what current models can do for biomarker interpretation and product experience
Make the architectural calls that scale us from first customers to serious revenue: cloud, data infrastructure, security, compliance, build vs. buy
Partner closely with the founder on product, commercial, and strategic decisions — and translate commercial constraints into technical priorities
Be the technical face of Biolyz to clients, partners, and investors when needed
You have 8+ years of engineering experience, including meaningful time in senior IC and/or technical leadership roles
You've led engineering teams — as Head of Engineering, VP Engineering, or founding CTO — and have strong opinions on how to build and grow high-performance teams
You're deep on AI — you've shipped AI in production, you follow where the models are going, and you have a point of view on applied ML for data-rich domains
You have infrastructure and architecture judgment proven at scale — cloud, data pipelines, real-time systems
You have a network of engineers, data scientists, and ML talent you can pull in as we grow
You're high ownership — you don't wait to be told, and you're comfortable in environments where the map hasn't been drawn yet
Track record at a serious sports technology or digital health company (Whoop, Catapult, Oura, Eight Sleep, Superpower, Apple Health, or comparable)
Experience with biomarker, physiological, clinical, or wearable data
Salary: €120,000–€180,000
Equity: Significant equity for the right person — this is a founding-level role
