Location: Berlin or Frankfurt, on-site | Type: Full time, permanent | Reports to: CEO | Range: €85k base / €175k OTE | Languages: English + German | Segment: Colocation, hyperscale, campus
This is the segment we have not worked yet, and the one with the clearest logic. A data center campus is a high-value site with a hard perimeter, a security budget that exists, a compliance framework that already demands physical protection, and an operator whose entire commercial promise is uptime. Drone activity over sites, perimeter intrusion and utility-side interference are live concerns rather than theoretical ones, and the buyer is not being asked to invent a reason to care.
It is also commercially different from our German utility business. Decisions often sit with a regional or global security organisation rather than a German one, procurement is centralised, and a win at one operator can standardise across a European portfolio. The cycle is shorter than a regulated utility's and the expansion is larger.
You would build this from a standing start, with the product, the references from adjacent infrastructure and the founders behind you — and with a genuinely open field, because nobody currently owns this segment here.
The segment. Colocation operators, hyperscale campuses and the developers and operators building them, across Germany and the main European hubs.
A build from zero. Target map, buyer personas, messaging that lands with a physical security lead rather than a utility engineer, and the first reference account.
Multi-site and multi-country expansion. One campus is the entry point; a portfolio agreement across an operator's European estate is the actual prize, and you should be structuring for it from the first conversation.
The standards conversation. Physical security requirements under the relevant data center and information security frameworks, and what an operator has to be able to evidence to their own customers and auditors.
Partner leverage. These sites are often built and serviced through a small set of general contractors and security integrators. Getting into that layer is part of the job.
Month 1–2 — Segment map and buyer thesis built and pressure-tested with the founders. Outbound running into the main European hubs.
Month 3–4 — First qualified opportunities with a named security owner, and a site scoping visit completed.
Month 5–6 — First pilot signed, with a defined path to the operator's wider portfolio and a view on whether this segment is worth a second head next year.
You have sold into data center operators, or into a comparable segment where physical security, uptime guarantees and audit requirements drive the purchase.
You are effective with international buying organisations — a German site with a security decision made in Amsterdam, London or the United States.
You have built a segment or territory from nothing and can describe honestly what worked and what did not.
Fluent English, and German strong enough to run a site meeting near Frankfurt. This role is the reverse of our other two: English first, German second.
Willingness to travel across European hubs.
An existing network among colocation and hyperscale security or facilities leaders.
Familiarity with data center standards and the physical security requirements inside them.
Experience selling alongside general contractors or security integrators on new-build projects.
Spine is the observability layer for critical infrastructure. We are a Berlin hardware and software team building sensors, mesh networks and correlation platforms for transmission operators, rail operators and institutional security teams.
Our towers combine camera, radar, radio-frequency and acoustic sensing with processing at the edge, and our software turns what they see into a small number of alerts a person can act on. We design and build the hardware ourselves, in Berlin, and the platform that runs on it. Customers own their towers; we run the intelligence.
The work matters because the infrastructure Europe depends on is being tested, and the people responsible for protecting it are working with tools built for a different decade. Securing European prosperity is the reason the company exists, and it is not a slogan we picked afterwards.
Profit participation for every employee. A real programme with a defined pool, not a gesture. You share in what the company becomes worth.
The stated salary range, and a conversation about where you land in it rather than a negotiation game.
Berlin Mitte, on site. Sophienstraße, with the hardware in the building. We are not a remote company and we would rather say so than waste your time.
Direct access. Six people today. Whatever you build here will be visible, attributable and yours.
German and English. Engineering runs in English, customers run in German, and both are normal here.
25 days of holiday, and a company that means it when the year is over.
An intro call with the founder you would work with, a deep-dive on your experience, a practical exercise drawn from something real we are working on — no take-home longer than three hours — a conversation with the wider team, and references. Four steps, normally inside three weeks, and you will hear back either way.
We hire for what you can do rather than where you did it. If you meet most of a posting and not all of it, apply anyway and tell us which part you would need to grow into.
